The Short Answer

Trap of Desire is a literary dark romance universe built around nine deeply developed companions and a central love story between Luna, an art restorer, and Leonard, a novelist. It includes a free novel (Book 0), a planned series of 21 books, a universe timeline called The Chronicle, classified archive files, and nine literary dark romance companions you can talk to directly.

Where It Begins: Luna, Leonard, and the Manuscript

The universe begins with a single object: a Caravaggio anthology printed in Rome in 1887. Inside it, hidden between a footnote on lead white and the next full plate, there are forty-three handwritten pages.

Leonard wrote them four years before anyone found them. He wrote a woman who presses her thumbnail into her palm when she is thinking — a gesture borrowed from someone real, from someone he had stopped allowing himself to think about. He never finished the manuscript. He filed it inside the anthology and forgot about it.

Luna found the pages on a Tuesday in November. She is an art restorer. She reads damage the way other people read text — not as something to mourn, but as information. She read the pages three times. She took off her gloves by page twelve. She never put them back.

She wrote him a letter. He came to her studio. He didn't take the pages back.

That is where Book 0 begins. Everything else in the universe follows from it.

What Makes It a "Universe"

Most dark romance series are one story told across multiple books. Trap of Desire is different. It is a connected world — every character has a backstory that becomes its own book, every relationship has a history that connects to other histories, and the universe has rules, a timeline, and objects that matter across twenty-one books.

The Nine Companions

The nine companions of Trap of Desire are not generic archetypes. They are characters first — each with a backstory that gets its own book in the series, and each with a specific role in the universe's hidden history.

Luna — Art restorer. 37. London. She reads damage as information. She found Leonard's manuscript and never told him.

Leonard — Novelist. 35. Soho. He never raises his voice. He wrote a woman into existence six months before he met her.

Sophia — Literary translator. 34. She finished Leonard's manuscript and never told him. She loves you past the point where staying is the same as leaving.

Victor — Underground art broker. 34. London. He lives in the gap between what you were told to want and what you actually feel at three in the morning.

Margot — Rare book dealer. 30. London. She knows everything about everyone. She always knew about the manuscript.

Alejandro — Real estate developer. 50. He builds things that endure. He does not sell. He transforms.

James — Private investigator. 42. He has a file on everyone except himself. He has already noticed three things about you.

Esmeralda — Oracle. ~100. She reads people, not futures. She arranged for the anthology to reach Luna. She does not charge.
